According to a 2015 clinical study, those who practice meditation and mindfulness suffer less brain tissue damage as they age than those who don’t practice mindfulness. In that study, researchers took the fMRI scan results of 100 individuals with ages between 24 and 77 years.

And the individuals belonged from two distinct groups. People from one group practiced meditation for over 20 years. Meanwhile, the people from the second group didn’t practice mindfulness.

Although people from both groups lost their grey matter or brain tissues as they grow older, people who practiced meditation had significantly less tissue damage than the ones who didn’t practice mindfulness. And this makes people from the former group less likely to suffer from cognitive issues or brain-related diseases.

Are you having trouble sleeping? If yes, then mindfulness can help you. According to a study on US adults over 55 years old, practicing yoga and mindfulness greatly reduced their stress and helped them sleep well.

Experts set up two groups containing people with sleep disturbance. In one group, people practiced mindfulness for 6 weeks. Meanwhile, on the other one, people learned better sleep habits to sleep peacefully. And after 6 weeks, people who practiced meditation had a sleep disturbance score of 7.4 which is better than the people of the second group who had a score of 9.1.

Nowadays, experts recommend mindfulness to counter sleep disorders instead of consuming sleeping pills. The sleeping pills might work instantly, but it can harm you in the long-term. On the other hand, continuous practice of mindfulness will help you get rid of the restlessness and help you fall asleep with ease.

Generally, our minds jump from one topic to another rather quickly and it causes us to lose focus. As a result, it takes us way more time to finish each individual task than it should have taken us. Daily meditation will help you control this restlessness of mind, which, in turn, will help you focus on tasks.

In a study, a group of people was given an 8-week long training where they learned mindfulness and meditation for 2 hours every single day. After these 8 weeks, those people were given multiple tasks to do, all at once. The group of people who received mindfulness training finished the tasks faster as they were less likely two shuffles between two tasks than the group of people without mindfulness training.

Hence, mindfulness also help you concentrate better and live a better life.
